Organic Expo grows 100%
With an exceptional 100% growth since its inaugural year in 2005, this year’s Organic Expo held from 21 to 23 July at Sydney Exhibition Centre will be Australia’s largest ever organic and environmental lifestyle show. Another very positive sign the organic industry is coming of age.
Over 165 exhibitors and 8500+ visitors are expected to attend this show which has the full support of industry associations, certifying bodies, environmental organisations and government bodies.
A strong theme running through this years Expo is ‘nourishing our children in the 21st century’. Seminars and panel discussions will focus on creating a sustainable future for our children through our food, homes and gardens.
The Organisers, Smeaton Hackett Events, have created plenty of exciting features to satisfy everyone’s interests;
- Renowned chefs Kylie Kwong, Teresa Cutter, Holly Davis and Tony Sharpe will be cooking up some delicious organic fare. Visitors can pose their questions in the panel discussions with SBS ‘Food Lovers Guide to Australia’ host, Joanna Savill, author and biodynamic farmer, Patrice Newell and third generation organic farmer John Priestley plus many more.
- Garden lovers will enjoy the Organic Garden, created by show award winners Permaculture North, which will host some fascinating gardening presentations by ABC ‘Gardening Australia’ presenters Jerry Coleby-Williams & Andrew O’Sullivan, as well as Permaculture expert Peter Rutherford.
- The Farmers Market Display will promote an array of beautiful fruits and veggies grown on Australian organic farms and give visitors the opportunity to taste the produce and talk directly with the farmers about where there food comes from.
- An Organic Café will offer a full range of delicious organic fare to keep everyone going throughout the day.
The 2006 Australia / New Zealand Organic Wine Show will have a fantastic display of award winning organic wines, selected by a commendable panel of judges; Ron Georgiriu (MW), Jon Osbestein, Clive Hartley and this year we welcome on board Max Allen.
